Welcome to a different kind of drag race! An activist drag queen and 2025 NYC Pride Grand Marshal, Marti Cummings (they/them), tries to make history by running for New York City Council. But Marti is up against 11 opponents with deep ties to their Manhattan district. Throughout this comedic documentary, Marti’s passion and positivity inspire queer activists and allies to change the political system. The film premiered as the New York Centerpiece film at NewFest 2023 and features appearances by superstar Billy Porter, Broad City’s Ilana Glazer and U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The movie screens at Red Eye NY at 7:00pm, followed by a Q&A. Free with RSVP!
