Heritage of Pride is committed to recruiting dedicated, reliable volunteers to assist in the production and execution of New York City’s annual Pride events. Though volunteers need not identify as LGBTQIA+, it is imperative that all volunteers be LGBTQIA+ affirming and support the ongoing struggle for full equality. Through training and support, Heritage of Pride aims to empower volunteers and encourage their ongoing participation in the organization’s annual planning.
What to Expect From Us. A safe workplace., free from discrimination, disrespect and discouragement. Be treated as a coworker and not as free help. A suitable work assignment with consideration for personal preference, temperament, education and experience. Learn about the organization and make certain you truly want to dedicate your time and effort. Thoughtfully planned and effectively presented training. Sound guidance and direction from an experienced and well-informed member of our team. Be heard and share your opinions openly. Recognition for the work you have done, the time you've put in, and the help you have given freely.
What We Expect From You. Make certain you truly want to dedicate your time and effort. Think about the services you offer and the value they are going to add. Learn as much as you can about the organization’s goals and programs. Offer suggestions, don’t bad mouth the organization, its staff or its volunteers. Accept the Rules; they’re there for a reason, even if you don’t understand. Ask questions - it’s important to clarify things you don’t understand. Training is essential to any job - some positions may require extensive training. Managers are necessary to our work - your cooperation with supervisors is vital. Follow through on your commitments, and don't make promises you can't keep. We all have a role to play and important skills to contribute; we must work together to be successful.
