      2012 GRAND MARSHALS - To Be Announced 

To commemorate and celebrate the Stonewall Riots, our lives, and our community, the March Committee is planning an exciting event with colorful floats, music, and community groups. We look forward to seeing you there!

        Please note that any float/marching contingent with corporate logos/images not previously authorized or approved by NYC Pride will be subject to ejection from the March.

Awards

NYC Pride recognizes outstanding achievement and acknowledges the effort required behind the scenes to produce Pride Week. As with prior years, the March Committee and our panel of judges (located at the Reviewing Stand at 5^th Avenue and 8^th Street) will evaluate the March contingents to determine which best represent the concept of the following March Awards:

• Best Use of Theme Award
• Most Original Award
• Marching Contingent Award
• Best Decorated Vehicle Award
• Best Musical Contingent Award

Volunteer Sign Up

Every year, it takes hundreds of volunteers to make the March and other NYC Pride events possible. If you are interested in volunteering for NYC Pride please sign up on our online volunteer form by clicking here.   You must attend one of the Volunteer Training sessions. Those will be announced in May of 2012. 

About the March

The March began in 1970 as an annual civil rights demonstration beginning the year after the Stonewall Riots. Over the years its purpose has broadened to include recognition of the fight against AIDS and to remember those we have lost to the illness, violence and neglect. It has also evolved to include being a celebration of our lives and our community.

This event is free and open to the public. No tickets are necessary. Special needs seating will be made available near the intersection of 23^rd Street and 5^th Avenue.
